Tom Sachs is a famous American plastic artist who first became known in 1994 by creating windows for Barneys stores called "Hello Kitty Nativity". He then recreates a Christmas scene in which Hello Kitty replaces the Virgin Mary.

The media revelation will come in 1999 with an exhibition at the Mary Boone gallery in Manhattan. It features replica weapons accompanied by live 9mm bullets, which visitors can take home with them as a souvenir.

The result is final, the gallery owner will be arrested for arms trafficking.
Tom Sachs is therefore provocative and sulphurous works.

Tom Sachs: Handmade Paintings is a 212-page book featuring a journey through America and its iconography.
