In a trance ? We are on seeing States of Matter' Trance series in Coarse.
Duo based in Los Angeles, Coarse has artists Mark Landwerh and Sven Waschk. Together they explore artistic territories based on sculpture and involve mediums such as resin, wood or fiberglass. Through the use of figurines as a support, the duo addresses the themes of sexual identity, the fear of time passing, relations that are deluded or a parallel reality.
For States of Matter, Coarse imagines two pieces, one of which is Trance. Dating back to 2017, this brightly colored 15" piece is split into two parts: at the top, the surface of the water, we find the character eating an ice cream and down the rest of the body of the character with his In between the legs, this liquid ice is rejected in a liquid way Separated by a translucent blue ring, we can see in this figurine the metaphor of time passing by, placed on a shell, the character appears to us in a soft and dreamlike way.
First part of a duo of very worked figurines and edited to 345 pieces, Trance de Coarse seems essential to your collection.
