Portrait #12: Fakir
Like every week, we have a new interview! Recently we have opened a new category dedicated to creators. In the art world Toys, there are everything: collectors, creators, enthusiasts, bloggers, photographers but also curious like you and me! And today we therefore have an appointment with a creator. Here is the portrait of FAKIR !
When did you start working on art Toys ?I discovered the Toys Around 2007, at the time I drew a lot, I discovered painting on canvas, on wall and other supports, and very quickly after starting to collect a few pieces I wanted to try it and I discovered it A way to give life to my characters.
What is your first creation?
It was the Qbiq rabbit, a platform of it yourself that I myself self -produced in 2009.
And one of my first custom on which I had fun is the "Supa Gnours" on a base of Teddy Troops 10 "
What is your last creation?
My latest creation is a wolf that I sculpted on a base of Trikky 5 "and which I called Okami, in reference to an old video game. It is a limited and numbered edition of 10 resin pieces.
What are your tools?
I mainly use acrylic paint, a few very fine brushes and a good dose of patience for the painting part.
And I work on sculpture and molding, by developing my own limited edition resin figurines, using tools such as: sculpting pasta, sandpaper, cutter, and other more unusual objects such as clothespins, Japanese baguettes ... without forgetting the most useful, my hands!
Your inspirations?
I draw most of my inspiration from the cartoons, cartoons, video games from the 80s and 90s, the animés of the Ghibli studio definitively marked me as well as certain manga, such as "bitter concrete", "akira", "Afro Samurai", "Samurai Champloo" ...
Much of my work is inspired by Japanese culture and folklore, and my favorite themes are bestiary and Asian food. I also like to caricature, divert the "characters" from our daily life through fashion, tattoo and other shots.
