Mermaid's Purse by Junko Mizuno

The myth of the mermaid has been exploited and re-exploited over the centuries whether in Homer's Odyssey, Disney's Little Mermaid or even various series for teenagers like Charmed, Vampire Diaries and Supernatural. Half-woman, half-fish, the mermaid is often treated as a vile predator who will charm poor men so that they can revel in it at the bottom of the ocean. Yet no doubt there is a little heart that beats under this shell of scales, and maybe some mermaids want to have a shark husband, a child and a house...

Junko Mizuno, Japanese artist well known to toy design lovers, has in any case decided to twist preconceived ideas about these poor mermaids abused for centuries by offering a pretty scene of life 19 cm high in which we find a luscious mermaid accompanied by a loving shark, a shark in the belly and the gaggle of baby bottles that the latter will inevitably generate.
