Medicom Toy releases two collections of Bearbrick per year : one for summer and one for winter.
All editions are in limited quantities and rarely reissued.
Each series is divided into four types of designs: Basic, Artist, Secret and Standard. Among the Standards, there are recurring themes such as Jellybean, Pattern, Flag, Horror, SF, Cute, Animal and Hero.
Each series of Bearbrick 100% includes several figures in different themes.
In addition to the "Basics" – single-coloured figurines each bearing a letter of "Bearbrick" (forming the full name when aligned) – original patterns are created in collaboration with contemporary artists and designers.
All series are sold in Surprise boxes (blind box), preventing buyers from knowing their figure before opening.
Each box contains One figure, making collecting a full series quite difficult.
This element of mystery contributes greatly to the enthusiasm and success of the Bearbrick.
Boxes are sold in sets of 24 in a display.
The first series was released in August 2001...
... and the very first collaboration, with the record store HMV de Tokyo, was released a month later.
This year, the series 48 comes with exceptional collaborations such as PlayStation, Five Nights at Freddy’s, Kabutack, Steiff, Aquaman, The Rock, or Toshihiko Tahara... A collection that promises to be heavy!
