This fall, the artist and toydesigner
Joe Ledbetter (Los Angeles, USA) will take the road and expose in 5 different cities in Europe in the purest tradition of rock bands. Ledbetter travels to London, Amsterdam, Rome, Istanbul and (Especially) Paris where it will present original paintings every time, new toys and he will also dedicate his new book
"Creatures of habit".
5 different cities, 5 different exhibitions: each will have its own theme. His work is intended to reflect current international events with a touch of humor. You will discover in addition to its original paintings, its new Toy put on sale for the occasion
"Terror and Magnus"Faithful to his style that made it known on the emerging scene of artists from the designer toy. Ledbetter will also offer many surprises for its first visit on the old continent.
Influenced by traditional animation cinema, graphic creation and daily life, Joe Ledbetter's works are a combination of ... a lot of things. A light approach in his drawing, he harmoniously mixes a cute and docile universe with threatening and fierce creatures, immersed in unfortunate situations, but often humorous. His style was noticed thanks to a constant level of quality and an originality of the line that made it his "signature". Your eyes could not remain insensitive to the style and personality of figurines such as
Mr Bunny, Firecat, Ringo Bear, Smash or the charming series of
FINDERS KEEPERS.
Joe Ledbetter is somehow an artist that could be described as "post-cartoon" both his visual universe and his characters marks a new current in illustrative graphic treatment. By focusing on the subversive and the absurd, he wonders, through his works, if one does not take life a little too seriously.
Creatures of Habit - 168 pages - Last Gasp For the first time, Joe Ledbetter's paintings have been compiled into one work.
CREATES OF HABIT Offers a look at Joe Ledbetter's unique and original style on his first five years of career. The book is designed chronologically, and the reader can follow the development of the ledbetter style through its emblematic line work, its vibrant colors and endearing characters. Throughout the book, Ledbetter presents its favorite paintings from solo exhibitions, collective and / or thematic expo, collaborations with artist friends (Nathan Jurevicius, Luke Chueh, Greg 'Craola' Simkins), and many rooms unpublished belonging to anonymous collectors than many fans have never seen.
See you Saturday, October 24 at Artoyz Paris for the opening of this exhibition that will be visible until November 21st. Free entrance.
