"What's in your playlist Adrien?"

In "What's in your playlist" we ask the members of Artoyz to share a small preview of their musical taste of the moment. We start today with Adrien, Web Editor at Artoyz (who is very embarrassed by this introduction since he writes a text about him in the third person).

Before you start, and if you like the Toy-Design and listen to music, know that we currently have in stock two models of Bearbrick Rinaro And if you don’t believe us, you can come into our store and try them out!

Sweet and Tender Hooligan - The Smiths

Objectively, there are more inspired and less predictable Smiths music. But there is in "Sweet and Tender Hooligan", an energy that transports me every time. A minor but delightful work by an extraordinary group.

CUBErt - System of a Down

If I really like the 5 albums of System of a Down, I have to confess a preference for the first two ( "System of a Down" and "Toxicity") who look more at violence than musicality. There is in the last thirty seconds of CUBert a perfect synthesis of what I like in this band: big guitar, polyphony and Serj Tankian screaming.

Petit Bonhomme - Anne Sylvestre

Discovered late thanks to the intervention of one of my little brothers, I have been fascinated for several months by Anne Sylvestre who manages to write songs of crazy relevance and who survive the pangs of time. Sometimes serious as "Douce Maison" which speaks metaphorically of rape, sometimes charming as the song below, it is a journey that is worth seeing.

The Peasants

"The Peasants" is an aesthetically sumptuous film since intelliously painted by hand. Released in early 2024, it also relies on a beautiful soundtrack.

Mirror Mirror - Blind Guardian

When we talk about rock and Germany, we usually think of the band Scorpions. Being quite insensitive to the latter, I will rather recommend Blind Guardian, a power metal band mainly inspired by the heroic Fantasy. It gives absolutely ignoble album covers, but heady titles.

Hibernatus - Sexy Sushi

Two-headed electroclash band, Sexy-Sushi is distinguished by a surprising dadaism in the writing of its lyrics and an extraordinary musicality if one is a little sensitive to the genre. It’s extremely peculiar, but I’ve been obsessed with it for 15 years. I take this opportunity to direct you to the prolific solo career of the singer Rebeka Warrior.

Merkfolk - Kolęda

"Yes your Grace" is a small independent video game in which you play the role of a king faced with choices. Featuring sumptuous pixel art and an extremely well-paced scenario, the game also boasts an excellent soundtrack, of which here's a short extract.

Pub Royal - Les Cowboys Fringants

Canadian Folk band, "Les Cowboys Fringants" is a band that I find both very funny and very moving. Amputated of its singer at the end of 2023, the group released a posthumous album in April 2024.

Sidi h'bibi - Mano Negra

Mano Negra’s second album, "Puta’s Fever" has the distinction of being written and sung in 4 languages, French, Spanish, English and Arabic. Sidi h'bibi is in my opinion the best title of the Mano Negra, final point.
