Houstonforcement - Travis Scott

Musically, Travis Scott is often praised for its ability to push the limits of modern hip-hop, integrating psychedelic visual elements and complex sound production.

His most emblematic album is undoubtedly "Astroworld", released in 2018. One of the tracks of this album is" Houstonforcement, "the 16th track, which refers to Californication Red Hot Chili Peppers. The title is a play of words combining "Houston", the hometown of Travis Scott, and "fornication", evoking the excesses and temptations of celebrity life. The two songs explore common themes such as the quest for the American dream, the illusions of celebrity and the resulting personal challenges.

Although I appreciate practically all the pieces of this artist, there is a passage to 1 min 13 s where his flow is simply incredible, which pushes me to put it in this blog.

Matrix - Josman

Josman, his real name José Nzengo, is a French rapper and songwriter renowned for his style that merges melodic rap, trap, and electronic influences.

Since the start of his career, Josman has proven his mastery with remarkable songs such as "elsewhere", "lotto", "fucked up", "vanilla", "ocassion", "intro", "in the void", "the dance of joy", "a zder, a tea" ...

For me, his first album "Matrix", much less publicized than the rest of his discography, remains a classic, in particular thanks to his eponymous piece. This title explores the concept of simulated reality, inspired by the film The Matrix. The production of "matrix" Marie of futuristic synthesizers with impactful percussion, creating an immersive and dynamic atmosphere which perfectly reflects the avant-garde and innovative approach of Josman.

... Batard (feat. Wit.) - Laylow

Let's stay in the digital world of Matrix with one of my favorite artists: Laylow And his first studio album, "Trinity", Released in 2020. This project presents itself as an" emotional stimulation software "intended to revive lost emotions in a reality which seems more and more distant.

The song “… de Batard” is particularly striking. He tells the story of a homeless and is linked to track 14, “long life…”, forming together the expression “long life of bastard”. This title, in collaboration with Wit., Consists of four verses, each offering the perspective of a different character. The first verse depicts the life of an unemployed man, living with his wife and teenage daughter. His debauchery life leads to financial and family difficulties. The second verse is seen through the eyes of this man's wife, who is anxious for the future of her family and worries about the irresponsible behavior of her husband and their daughter. The third verse adopts the prospect of the teenage girl, focused on her school abandonment and her relationship with an older boy. Finally, the fourth verse, interpreted by Wit., Presents the point of view of the bailiff who seizes the property of the family, thus putting an end to their history.
The song raises intriguing questions about the identity of the homeless, suggesting that he could actually be the bailiff rather than the man of the first verse.

In terms of production, Mr. Anderson (alias Laylow) used a sample of the title “Saint Pablo” by Kanye West, adding an immersive sound dimension to this deeply introspective piece.

Open the door! - The bean

Bean, of its real name Louis Ambroise, is a French rapper and producer who stands out in the New Wave movement of French hip-hop. His music is recognized for its innovative side, skillfully mixing a very different range of flows, prods and choruses.

Although his album "Errr" has with the single "bad payer" marked the spirits, it is a particular song of his album "24", Released in December 2023, which particularly attracted my attention:" Open the door! ".

This title embodies everything I appreciate in the bean: a punchy instrument trap, a clear and typical flow of new wave, and an explosive energy that makes you want to tear everything.
