Dear reader, the month of March was punctuated by many arrivals of books on various subjects ! We will present in this article a selection of products present in our ART & BOOKS section. From graphics to the world of skateboarding, via Hip-Hop, it will be difficult not to find your account!
 

Hip Hop

Attention fans of this popular musical movement which made its debut in New York in the South Bronx in the early 1970s, you are in for a treat!

  

With Fresh Fly Fabulous: 50 years of hip-hop style, we discover anecdotes and key moments from the hip-hop era! The movement has directly influenced music and fashion for generations. With a style that was initially focused on personalization, we mainly found denim jackets and spray-painted sweatshirts! Art 

In this selection, New York artists are not left out ! Let's start with renowned artist, draftsman, painter and sculptor Keith Haring. A figure of contemporary art, he is known for his endless repetitions of synthetic forms underlined in black with bright, illuminating colors, on different supports.

In this book, we are faced with a summary of all the actions that marked his life! It is also an opportunity to learn more about his links with the New York art scene of the time and the way in which he denounces social prejudices through his content!

Let's move on to Jean-Michel Basquiat, leader of the underground movement in 80's New York. He is an artist who influences contemporary artistic culture more than ever, known for his social critiques that still resonate through their subjects.

To close this section, visual artist Tom Sachs comes on stage! The latter became known in 1994 by creating windows for Barneys stores entitled "Hello Kitty Nativity". He then recreates a Christmas scene in which Hello Kitty replaces the Virgin Mary.
 
 
 
Here we find the most recent body of work by the popular American artist dedicated to his highly inventive interpretation of space travel, published for the first time. Scheduled to accompany exhibitions simultaneously in New York and Palm Beach, the book follows the interdisciplinary exhibition centered on the theme of spaceships by the artist.
 

 
 
 

Graffiti 

We all agree that street art was really born in the 1960s in the United States. The first movement akin to street art is “Graffiti writing” launched by two artists from Philadelphia, Cornbread and Cool Earl.


Ten years later, the trend seduced New York which saw the birth of big names in street art: Taki 183 or Blade One. In the street, on sidewalks, walls, subways or public surfaces, everything is an excuse to create and convey a message visible to all. Graffiti, stencil, posters, stickers, projections, there are a multitude of techniques and materials for artists to bring street masterpieces to life.

Paris City Graffiti presents the graffiti of Paris in their smallest corners, all this with more than 2200 shots collected from more than 200 activists!
 

After more than ten developing this project, we discover a book full of anecdotes and passion, all divided into 5 main chapters: trains, railways, streets, land and old school.
