Portrait #20: Sevenlab

Direction Switzerland! Day collector and night artist, here is the interview with Sergio called "Sevenlab".

When did you start collecting art toys ?

I discovered the arts toys A little by chance, surfing the internet. I started my little collection in 2007. I don't really have a guideline. It can range from a kidrobot to a mecha toy or even a plastic figurine beast. My collection is a bit scattered between the show and my workshop.

What is the first art toy that you bought?

My first art toy Was the Latte milk boxes from Tokidoki. Funny, they came in addition to your home. At the time, it was very difficult to get art toys in Geneva.

What is your top 3?

It's hard to make a classification, they all have a certain value for me. Let's say it's classification of the moment.

1. Tequila from Muttpop.

2. Omen from Coarse.

3. A toy.

Tell us a bit about your work, what are your tools? Your inspirations?

I work mainly with spray bombs to make the funds. Then I do the rest with POSCA or Molotow Markers.

For my inspirations, we can say that I am clearly inspired by American comics and pop culture. There are also artists like 123klan or Alëxone. There would be so much to quote but it is the first that come to my mind.

When did you start working on art toys ?

The first art toy that I really customized was toy from Toy2R. A basketball player in my Fethe NBA team, New York Knicks.

What is your first or latest creation?

Very quickly after doing my basketball player I was led to create my own resin figurine: T-Boy.

Today I collaborate with onlfait.ch To create a figurine thanks to 3D printing, on the basis of one of my characters: Da Beast. We are, for the moment, at the prototype stadium but I am very enthusiastic and confident about the final result.
