Portrait #19: Tomodachi Island

Today, we take off for the United Kingdom but more precisely in Bournemouth. Here are the pretty creatures of Emelie, coming from "Tomodachiisland".

Tell us a bit about your work, what are your tools? Your inspirations?

All my work comes from an imaginary island, Tomodachi Island, which I created about 4 years ago. I created this island to ensure that all my creatures have a house. On this one there are sympathetic, soft and cute creatures that you have never met. The island of Tomodachi is a place where I escape. All my fears disappear and no harm exists here.

The gang

In general I spend hours creating. Currently, it is my main work and which I hope will remain so. I became a mom last July, so I live with my mother for the moment. It gives me the chance to work at home while taking care of my daughter. It is not easy to combine both his artist's life with life next door, but I do my best and so far it worked rather well. I dream of building my own workshop and working there full time but I know it is the dream of many artists. Only time will tell.

The Miochos

I draw my inspiration from daily life but also from the work of many artists. My greatest inspirations at the moment are Dolly Oblong And Coat. Dolly Oblong toys represent perfection for me, and those of coarse, do not talk to me ... I think Coarse excels in the vinyl toy industry and big on quality. It's just beautiful!

As for my tools, I collect them. Due that I see one, I buy it thinking that it could be useful to me, but it always ends in my pencil pot. I make sure I have some favorites and I could not live without. The silicone brush is the tool I use the most. This tool is perfect for small details that are many in my work. And my office is here: Workshop

Tell Us a Little About Your Work, What Are Your Tools? Your inspirations? All My Work Original from A Fictional Island, Tomodachi Island, which I Created About Four Years Ago. I CREATED THIS ISLAND So that all the creatures in my mind could have a home. It is the home of some of the cutest, Friendliest and Gentlest Creatures You will Ever Come Across. Tomodachi Island is part of the Escapist in Me I Guess in Many Ways. All My Fears Disappear When I Enter the World of Tomodachi Island, and no Evil Exists here.

The Queen of Candy Cove 1

I spend Allot of Time Doing Art in General. At the moment it is my day job and i hop that it can stay that way. I Became a Mother in July Last Year and I am A Stay at Home Mom at the moment. This gives me the chance to work from home whilst look after my baby girl. It is hard to stay afloat as an artist and hard to make a living out of it, but I am Doing my Best and so far it’s worked loanty well. It is a dream to be able to build my own studio one day and do this full time. But i know that that is the dream of many artists. Only Time Will Tell if this is to become a dream come true or not.

The Passing to Yurei2

I FIND MOST of my inspiration in Everyday Life But also from Many Fellow Artists. My Biggest Inspirations at the moment are dolly oblong and coarse. Dolly Oblongs Resin toys Are just perfection in every way and when it is comes to coarse, don’t even get me startd. I think coarse has excellent the vinyl toy Industry and Taken It to Another Level of Quality. Simply Gorgeous!

The Passing to Yurei

When it comes to tools I am a bit of a hoarder. I See Tools that I Might Think I will have good use for but they just end up in my Ever Growing Tool Jar and Never Get Used. I do have a few favourites that i couldn’t live without though. Clay Shapers are probably what i use the most. They are great for fine detail, which i have an awful lot of in my work.

The Eggloton Tripplets

Another Tool I Could Not Live Without is my Airbrush. It is just so important to me and probably the tool I care for the most in my workshop. It is ultra clean all the time and kept safe in a cupboard.

When did you start working on art toys ?

I created my first character about 2 years ago. At the time I started, it looked pretty from afar but closely ... oh no no! It is a toy that I would always keep to remember what I left. I started to create properly about 2 months ago. I think I needed 2 good years to customize normally and get to know the mediums I use today.
