Tik Ka was kind enough to answer some questions :)
1- First of all, can you introduce yourself ?
I'm Tik Ka, I am a painter from Hong Kong in the past engaged in advertising design, starting art in 2006, my work is mainly based on painting,
My creativity is deeply rooted in Chinese traditional culture; my work incorporates strong Chinese traits in his artistic expression. Fusing the distinct Chinese characteristics with Western elements and Japanese superflat technique, I ultimately create my own narrative and recognizable style. In my recent body of work, I investigate the traditional Chinese value of Life and Death.
I have create baby characters - Soha and Chìzi. They grew up after many questions raised by my works: every day we are growing, we have our own life, but why people always think about the past, when the childhood is the happiest? Our economy and quality of life have been raised, but if you have childhood times in mind, we can be really happy hearts on it.
And in between I also do some interesting creations, like Chinese Hot Pot and Super Hero meet Chinese Opera.
2- Would you like your characters to become figurines ?
At present, I still focus on painting, and I was told that my work will be very interesting to create three-dimensional, but 3D works is not really my main focus.
3- Why this series ?
I was born in Hong Kong, we have been accustomed to living in the British colony mix of Chinese and Western, now returned to China, but to make Hong Kong a nondescript, but also want to keep my creative mix of Chinese and Western, this is the feature of Hong Kong. My art is "made in Hong Kong". First, to really love this movie can create two creative, because I want to understand the characteristics of each character, but also want to accurately apply the Chinese legendary figure in the creation, and I have to study Chinese opera culture. General, women, etc. People who apply in superheroes. I also hope that one day I can really make a real exhibition, live is the expression of Chinese opera.
4- Where you surprised by how well your drawings have been received ? I have in mind Stan Lee and Robert Downey Jr.
Get the audience to appreciate is the creator of the most satisfying thing, more accidents is to get their appreciation.
However, to meet the more creative from the creative process, after the result of bonus.
5- What will be the inspiration for your next series ?
The next project is to continue to do Chìzi series of exhibitions, also in cooperation with the brand, of course, I still welcome the major brands and I together will be fun.
6- Do you have other projects in progress ?
No specific plans temporarily :)
7- Are you planning to come show your work in France any time soon ?
Of course, it is possible to promote the creation of a pleasure in France, in the past has had solo exhibitions in Paris, also wish to have the opportunity again.
Mon art est "made in Hong Kong" !
But what interests me the most is the creative process, finding the idea and declining it remains the most exciting. Recognition is a bonus.
5- What are your inspirations for your next series?
My projects are to make exhibitions around Chizi. Collaborations with Brands, it could be nice, I am always very open to collaborations!
6- Do you have other planned projects?
Not for the moment :)
7- Accounts are you coming to exhibit in France soon?
Of course ! It would be a pleasure to come to France. I have already exhibited in France and I still hope to have this opportunity.
