"Ghost in the Shell" is a Japanese science-fiction franchise created by Masamune Shirow. It began as a manga and has since been adapted into several films, animated series and video games.

The story takes place in a cyberpunk future where technology is omnipresent. It follows the adventures of Major Motoko Kusanagi, a cyborg working in an elite unit specializing in cyber-crimes and technological threats.
