Popmart (or Pop Mart), founded in 2010, is a leading Chinese company of pop culture and designer toys. The company has recruited various designers, such as Kenny, Pucky, Ayan, Kasing Lung and Skullpanda For its different creations. With these popmart designers develop original and innovative franchises such as Labubu, Pucky, Skullpanda, Hirono, Nori, or Molly.

She specializes in "blindboxes", with products sold to the unit which lead us to make a collection of it. We find for example collections with Astro Boy, transformers, Spy x Family, Mon petit Poney, Harry Potter, Spongebob or even Minions.

Why does Pop Mart enjoy such worldwide success?

Pop Mart (or Popmart) is a Chinese collectible toy company founded in 2010 in the Chaoyang district by entrepreneur Wang Ning. Best known for its blind boxes, the company's popularity grew significantly starting in 2024.

Pop Mart’s global success is based on transforming a simple "toy" into a collectible sought after by young adults. Using the blind box system, the brand focuses on the psychology of surprise and the "gamification" of purchasing. The scarcity strategy with secret editions has allowed Pop Mart to turn what seemed like a simple trend into a true social phenomenon, amplified by strong virality on social media.

Originally a graduate in advertising, Wang Ning wanted to sell trendy items, inspired by similar Hong Kong stores. He tried his luck by opening the first Pop Mart in 2010. However, success came only a few years later: he discovered blind boxes and decided to stop selling products other than toys. Wang Ning then focused on selling blind boxes – boxes containing a toy whose contents are unknown until opened. While initially acting only as a distributor, he met Kenny Wong in 2016, strongly recommended by his employees. That’s when Molly, Pop Mart’s very first IP, was born and met enormous success. To avoid relying on a single IP, Wang Ning created more and more collaborations with various artists, including Kasing Lung and his famous Labubu. The number of fans kept growing as new characters, new series, and new rare editions were created. This is due to a psychological strategy similar to that of gambling: the surprise effect and the desire to obtain a rare figurine. Another advantage for Pop Mart? Social media. Fans share their treasures and collections across many platforms, notably TikTok (or Douyin), which created even more excitement around the different characters.
