Hansel & Gretel

Junko Mizuno is a Japanese artist. His work is characterized by a brutal opposition between childish, cute drawing and sordid themes, which is sometimes called "kawaii gore" or "sleek kawaii".

In this confrontation between modernism and tradition, Junko offers us a caricature of the Grimm brothers' masterpiece: Hansel and Gretel. We find a village under the influence of Queen Marylin, promising mountains of sweets, avalanches of ice cream and rivers of fruit juice.

The latter has a lot to worry about because we discover Gretel, ready to face the worst dangers with her bamboo saber and Hansel whose cries liquefy matter. It's a journey into total absurdity, with a desire to assume its originality and express its overflowing creativity to revisit such classics !
