Showcasing a wide range of the artist's works, his marks can be found on everyday objects such as refrigerators, chairs and even cabinets. Basquiat also painted in the street, on windows and subway tiles.

The publication presents the research of scholars and art historians, who analyze the use of found objects and materials and their role in addressing issues of social inequality and racial politics in the United States.
