Pop culture loses face with YAO and Devil Toys

Looks like a pop monument were entitled to a whole new kind of portrait ... Right Devil Toys ?

If you don't know the Taiwanese artist YAO, we strongly advise you. In his paintings he deconstructs pop culture's characters with a raw style but a technique full of finesse. Literally vanishing his subjects, YAO has reinterpreted Megaman, KFC, Mario, Donald Duck or Mickey, character that interests us here.

Interested in YAO's subversive paintings, Devil Toys decided to turn one into a 9" resin figurine. The subject ? The most famous mouse : Mickey. In a sort of erasure of a ubiquitous figure and a company that is equally so, YAO distorts the aspect but not the substance. Maybe that's why we recognize each details of Mickey.

The Beauty of Vanishing by YAO and Devil Toys is published in 99 copies with a certified autograph and will be available tomorrow at the Devil Toys website for $230.
